Works in Development

Here are some of the projects that I'm developing as a director in 2026:

Short Story Project

by various authors

  • The Short Story Project creates low-tech, high-creativity theatrical stagings of short stories by as-yet unpublished and/or little-known writers. We host our performances quarterly at independent bookstores around New York City.
  • We hosted our first performance on January 15 at Dear Friend Books in Bed-Stuy. Our next event will be in late April at P&T Knitwear.

The Lodge

by Mary Elizabeth Hamilton

  • In March, The Hearth will produce a text-based workshop that I will direct.
  • In June, The Hearth will partner with Firehouse Theatre in Richmond, VA to produce a movement-based workshop in Richmond.
  • By the end of 2026, The Hearth’s goal is to co-produce a production of The Lodge with Firehouse Theatre, with a run in Richmond and a run in New York.

She-Crab Soup

by Olivia Facini & Hillary Gao

  • We'll workshop the piece in February and present it at works-in-progress showings in the spring.
  • We're waiting to hear whether it's been accepted into this spring’s ?!: Festival of New Works at The Brick.

-D

by Lori Felipe-Barkin

  • Lori and I have been working on this piece since its early stages in mid-2025.
  • We'll do a text-based workshop of it in February and then a movement-focused workshop of it in the spring.
  • Our goal is to produce a workshop production by the end of 2026.

Slick

by Olivia Facini

  • I just finished a round of revisions on the play, so I'll soon host a table read of it.
  • In February, I'll do another round of rewrites and then workshop the piece.
  • My goal is to produce a workshop production by mid-2026.
  • You can read more about the play here.

Prepare for Landing

by Malena Pennycook

  • Malena and I have been working on this piece since its early stages in mid-2025.
  • We will do a text-based workshop of it in April and then a movement-focused workshop of it over the summer.
  • The Hearth is considering producing a full production of this play in 2027.

Mugs Without People

by Sam Bell

  • After the next round of rewrites, we will do a movement-focused workshop to understand what needs to be revised.
  • Our goal is to produce a workshop production of the piece by the end of 2026.
